We are seeking a Senior VDC Modeler to join our team. The Senior VDC Modeler will work between designated job site, and our head office at Coquitlam, BC. The Senior VDC Modeler will work with the BIM Manager, BIM Team Lead, Project Manager(s), System Designers, Site Foreperson(s) and General Contractors to create accurate Mechanical Systems Fabrication Models, Layout Drawings and Fabrication Spool Drawings associated with their assigned Projects. The mechanical models and fabrication spool sheets will be primarily created using Autodesk Revit, MSuite BIMPro, and Trimble Sysque.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and follow all Jnr. – Snr. VDC Modeler responsibilities, quality requirements in accordance the most current PML Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents. Complete the checklists for each milestone issue of the model and construction documents for review the site and file completed on the server with date and drawing issue.
  • Review and understand the Project Scope based on Mechanical Specifications, Drawings and BIM execution plan Review and understand the Project Scope based on Mechanical Specifications, Drawings, BIM execution plan and contract requirements.
  • Request, review, and implement Approved Equipment Shop Drawings from the Project Management. Complete shop drawing checklist spreadsheet.
  • Attend trade coordination, design/ fabrication, and site meetings for assigned projects and provide input on modelling. Represent PML in general contractor meetings. Run internal coordination meetings.
  • Model domestic, hydronic, drainage and fire protection piping using consultant models and drawings for guidance and using correct pipe type, fittings & accessories based off project specifications and approved shop drawings.
  • Coordinate access hatch locations with forepersons and other trades.
  • Coordinate sleeving locations ahead of pours.
  • Place dimensionally accurate equipment in model.
  • Provide a set of dimensioned drawings for each floor layout including sleeving, equipment, piping and access hatches to site for review and installation.
  • Provide 3D Models in Navis format for review by the Site Foreperson and PM.
  • Produce layout drawings and TFL files for Trimble Total Station for hanger and sleeving locations.
  • Create spools, spool sheets and spool maps, adjust sheets before sending for review and to fabrication shop.
  • Conduct field reviews to verify mechanical installations and confirm as-built conditions.
  • Review design issues and submit RFI to Project Coordinator.
  • Conduct field reviews to verify mechanical installations and confirm as-built conditions.
  • Perform 3D scans of site conditions and insert scans into model.
  • Reviewing and incorporating MSIs (Mechanical Site Instructions).
  • Provide 3D Models in Navis format for review by the Site Foreperson and PM.
  • Resolve model clashes and provide comments on clash coordination software (Revizto/Navisworks/ACC).
  • Create mechanical equipment families.
  • Assist in the design and layout of Mechanical Rooms.
  • Advise VDC Modelers on design and provide mentorship.
  • Review third-party and consultant models and provide direction on routing and constructability.
  • Work at site office as required.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in CAD/BIM or similar or B.Eng in Mechanical/Industrial/Civil/Structural/Architectural.
  • 3-4yrs in related field
  • Experience working with Autodesk Revit, MSuite BIMPro, and Trimble Sysque
  • Strong communication skills
