We are seeking a Fabrication Shop Manager to oversee our fabrication shop operations in Coquitlam, BC. As the Fabrication Shop Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of fabricators and ensuring efficient and timely completion of projects. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in fabrication techniques, excellent leadership skills, and be computer literate with a solid understanding of inventory and materials handling.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee all activities within the fabrication shop, ensuring adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and project deadlines.
  • Supervise a team of fabricators, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high productivity and quality output.
  • Develop and implement effective fabrication strategies, workflows, and procedures to optimize production processes and maximize efficiency.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels, including raw materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability for ongoing projects while minimizing excess stock and waste.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other departments to plan and schedule fabrication projects, ensuring effective resource allocation and coordination.
  • Maintain accurate records of fabrication activities, including production reports, inventory logs, and project documentation.
  • Identify and address any issues or obstacles that may arise during the fabrication process, implementing corrective measures to ensure timely resolution.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations, equipment maintenance, and a clean working environment.
  • Stay updated with the latest fabrication techniques, technologies, and industry trends, recommending and implementing process improvements as necessary.
  • Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, communication, and professional development among the fabrication team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fabrication shop management.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques, tools, and equipment.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including inventory management software, project management tools, MS Office Suite, and ERP experience (Jonas Software preferred).
  • Familiarity with inventory control and materials handling principles.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures within a fabrication shop environment.
