We are seeking a BIM Team Lead to join our team. The BIM Team Lead will work with the BIM Manager, VDC Designer(s), Project Manager(s) , System Designers, Site Foreperson(s), Fabrication Shop Manager and General Contractors to manage the project BIM team to create accurate Mechanical Systems Fabrication Models, Layout Drawings and Fabrication Spool Drawings associated with their assigned Projects. The mechanical models and fabrication spool sheets will be primarily created using Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, Revizto, MSuite BIMPro, and Trimble Sysque.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and follow all BIM Team Lead responsibilities, quality requirements in accordance the most current PML Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents.  Complete the checklists for each milestone issue of the model and construction documents for review the site and file completed on the server with date and drawing issue.
  • Create and update SOP documents.

  • Review and understand the Project Scope based on Mechanical Specifications, Drawings, BIM execution plan and contract requirements.

  • Review and provide input on contracts for upcoming projects.

  • Manage the project BIM team and coordination processes for assigned projects.

  • Delegate tasks to VDC Designers based on their experience.

  • Ensure tasks are carried out within allotted timeframe.

  • Provide BIM progress and budget tracking.

  • Facilitate scheduling, trade coordination, fabrication shop, site and general contractor meetings. Relay information to BIM team and Project team.

  • Work with the BIM team to resolve and advise on all clashes identified during the clash detection process.

  • Conduct field reviews to verify mechanical installations and confirm as-built conditions.

  • Provide BIM support to the Site team. Provide 3D Models in Navis format for review by the Site Foreperson and PM.

  • Communicate with subcontractors and designers to receive, coordinate and update all electronic models.

  • Communicate with the PM, verbally and written when the Project is complete at each phase.

  • Prepare Project Work Schedules to meet the Construction Schedule.

  • Coordinate production of documents to meet deadlines and the allocated hours at each phase of the project.

  • Manage and distribute coordinated digital documents to the project team.

  • Provide modelling production support to the VDC Designers when required.

  • Review and distribute MSIs (Mechanical Site Instructions) to VDC Designers.

  • Request quotes from and manage third-party modeling teams.

  • Participate in VDC Designer hiring process.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in CAD/BIM or similar or B.Eng in Mechanical/Industrial/Civil/Structural/Architectural.
  • 5-6 yrs in related field
  • 2-3 yrs experience leading a team of designers
  • Formal leadership training certificate is an asset
  • Experience working with Autodesk Revit, MSuite BIMPro, and Trimble Sysque
  • Strong communication skills
