The Burnaby Hospital Redevelopment (Phases 1A & 1B) is a two-building project that significantly expanded services on the Burnaby Hospital campus. Completed as part of a major modernization effort, the redevelopment transformed the facility into a modern, state-of-the-art medical and surgical healthcare centre designed to better serve the growing community.

The project included:

• A mental health and substance use unit featuring a secured outdoor healing patio
• 83 patient rooms designed to enhance comfort, privacy, and care delivery
• A dedicated maternity and labour unit
• Six operating rooms with integrated pre-operative and post-operative care areas
• A specialized Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
• A Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD) supporting critical sterilization and equipment management

The completed redevelopment strengthens Burnaby Hospital’s ability to deliver high-quality, patient-focused care for decades to come.
