Indigenous Relations
PML Professional Mechanical Ltd. is committed to building respectful and meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities and Peoples throughout Canada. As part of this commitment, we are incorporating Indigenous rights, values, and expectations into our organizational goals. We recognize and uphold our legal, ethical, and cultural responsibilities, particularly in areas such as consultation, land use, and community engagement.
We recognize our responsibilities under the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA), the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, and other calls to action.
Our Indigenous Relations team helps interpret these responsibilities and turns them into practical, meaningful actions, such as developing engagement plans, contributing to Indigenous community wellness, and ensuring proper consultation processes with our Indigenous partners.
We prioritize building cultural understanding across our organization, through workshops, policy development, and support efforts to increase Indigenous hiring, procurement, and inclusion. A key part of our Indigenous Relations team's role is to help colleagues understand the history and lived experiences of Indigenous Peoples and why respectful engagement matters for long-term business success and reconciliation.
PML is developing partnerships and agreements with Indigenous governments, businesses, suppliers, and educational institutions. These collaborations may include community sponsorships, joint ventures, training programs, hands-on learning opportunities, and capacity-building initiatives. Our goal is to build respectful, long-term relationships that create mutual benefits and foster trust between our organization and Indigenous communities.
